About Canoeing on Arrow Lakes
Arrow Lakes is the Columbia River, which is widened due the Keenleyside Dam slowing the flow at Castlegar.
For the first trip in May we'll start in the middle of Upper Arrow Lake, at Nakusp and head South to Castlegar.
Later, in the first two weeks of June, we'll start from the very top at Revelstoke and paddle all the way through to Castlegar. There is a current, but not much of one, and most of the time we won't notice it. Under certain conditions and at certain places, like where it narrows with the wind blowing South, we may get pulled along a bit.
This isn't an "official" canoe camping lake, like Bowron, but unless the water levels are extremely high, like right to the edge of the forest, we'll find great places to pitch our tents and set up shop for the night. This is part of the fun, hunting for a new home each night.
